“If you would have told me a year ago that I’d be pregnant and working in the middle of a global pandemic, I never would have believed you.”

A nurse is resolved in her decision to service despite the risk.

“If you would have told me a year ago that I’d be pregnant and working in the middle of a global pandemic, I never would have believed you. Being a nurse is challenging and being pregnant is challenging. Being both at the same time has been a whole new ballgame. It’s been difficult to keep myself and the new life inside of me safe while continuing to work. I constantly feel conflicting emotions for wanting to do my duty as a nurse and at the same time feeling fear and guilt for potentially putting myself and my baby at risk. I get a lot of comments like, “I can’t believe you’re still working” or “You shouldn’t still be working.” Some days, those comments really get to me. But with each day that passes, I become more confident that I am making the right choice. Every day that I walk into the hospital it’s a risk but I will continue to do my best to keep myself, my baby and my patients safe.”
